Google Says You Need a Blog

Google says in the Webmasters/Site owners Help manual. “A blog is a great way to connect with people who share your interests, or to publicize your site or product.

Google likes blogs and rewards blogs who post new content often with higher search ranking that a static website. The new content also encourages your visitors to return to your site to read your latest post. Changing content on a static site is painful and usually expensive.

You do need to have a plan for your blog content, to ensure you have a consistent message and engage your readers. My favorite blogs have a point of view. I dont even have to agree, as well as their opinion is well stated and makes me think.

Do you have a blog .. are you expressing your point of view ..

I agree with everything you mentioned. In addition to improving your search engine rankings a blog is a great way to build your online reputation or brand online. I was just telling someone yesterday a blog is like a resume on serious steroids. Potential employers, business partners or customers can get to know you, respect you and be more interested in doing business with you.

Either way I feel in today’s world where the first thing someone does is google you, controlling your personal brand’s reputation is essential. A blog is an excellent tool to do so.

    Good post

If most of your content is in a protected members area via a membership site, a blog will be crucial for keyword-rich content.

I find that providing useful content in the blog also gives the perception of authority and hopefully encourages people to buy whatever is being sold.
