Advice from the Wealthy Freelancer

I know why Dean Riek is the Wealthy Freelancer. He knows how to spot what he calls “time sucking clients”. You know who they are, we all have them. My sixth sense usually tells me someone is wasting my time, or trying to get information from me, but once in a while someone gets past my defenses. Just happened last week.

Wish I would have read Dean’s blog post. It was right there screaming at me .. and I was looking the other way. Live and learn. Thanks to @edgandia for the tweet to let us know about Dean’s blog post.

How do you cope with time-sucking clients? hint .. don’t make them clients

Here’s a tip I got several years ago and when I use it, it really makes my life a lot less stressful.

When you find that a prospective client may be a real time-waster, and it happens, the best thing to do is pass him/her to your competitors. That way you will know what they will be doing for the next while….

In the meantime, you can work for people who appreciate your expertise.
